Coastal Canyon Events – Ocean View Wedding Location
Stunning Hilltop Half Moon Bay Pacific Ocean View
To get to Coastal Canyon Events, you first drive a little south of Half Moon Bay then up a canyon to the top of a hill overlooking the San Mateo County Coastside. It’s probably the best long views towards the Pacific Ocean and Half Moon Bay I know of for a wedding ceremony setting.
This site can seat up to 250 people with a parking area for up to 150 cars.
The area for the wedding ceremony is surrounded on three sides by hay fields that gives a sense of space and remote beauty. Candace, co-owner, is a “concrete artist” by trade and so she has incorporated many unique concrete sculptures and massive rocks to give added beauty and a feeling of expansiveness.
It comes complete with
- Glassed in stage
- Enclosed kitchen for your caterer
- Dressing area for the Bride
- Several restrooms
- Electrical generator
- Security lighting.
This location would be good for an elegant affair and is an especially unique location for a country western wedding theme.

Sam’s Chowder House – Wedding Location & Reception Location
One Of The Best Coastside Ceremony Location Ocean Views
Sam’s Chowder House offers one of the best ocean view locations for a wedding ceremony and reception in the Half Moon Bay area. The have both outdoor and indoor locations for a ceremony. Outside, I’ve performed several ceremonies on the beach at the harbor below the restaurant; they also have a nice grass area on site that offers a beach wedding location without getting sand in your shoes!
As for the food, well they have award-winning seafood and everything I’ve had there at receptions and for general dining has been of the highest quality and flavor. The service staff for weddings are experienced and helpful so you are in good hands for the ceremony and the reception following.
Sam’s web site is one of the best of the San Mateo County Coastside wedding vendors and services. They have a very helpful Web Cam mounted on the roof, you can see both north and south so you’re never surprised by what the weather might hold if you’re traveling over for the day.
Look over their site at www.samschowderhouse.com; contact them at 650 712-0245 or at events@samschowderhouse.com. Terry is available as an officiant here and any Bay Area locations.

Here Comes The Guide – Online and Print Wedding Resources
When you see this graphic on a website for a wedding vendor or service you can be sure they are a valuable and accredited vendor/service provider because they are prescreened. Here Comes The Guide is one of the premier online and print wedding industry wedding resource directories for California, Chicago, and DC vendors and services.
But, it isn’t just a matter of paying money to be included in the directory. I had to pass through an extensive review process before being accepted. Certified by The Guide explains that “…each vendor has to submit 30-40 references, including wedding industry professionals and at least 15 recent brides…” I know for sure that they contact each person and get their honest feedback so only companies with a rave review are accepted.
Not only are Locations and Services provided with extensive photos and explanatory content, there are hundreds of articles on helpful topics relating to a wedding. They even have a Job Board for wedding and special events market in Northern and Southern California where one can post a job opening or find a job. There is also a very helpful Bookstore with books in 4 categories of interest, including their own Northern California Book.
For you wedding professionals interested in becoming a Here Comes The Guide resource, your acceptance gets you into both their Web and Printed Book. I receive more referrals from their Website than any other website source apart from my Google search engine keyword findability.
The newest Northern California Book printing is due for release January 2011. It can be found in bookstores, in Amazon, and can be ordered from their website.
Spend time on their site at Here Comes The Guide and see why I value this site.

Hasting House – Half Moon Bay Wedding Location
Ok, my summer hiatus is over. I’m starting this Fall Blog with one of my favorite wedding ceremony locations, The Hasting House.
Owned by Linda Montalto Patterson and Richard Patterson, this beautiful garden location across from the Pacific Ocean offers a unique, secluded environment for a smaller wedding. I’ve performed ceremonies there for just a couple and for weddings with 100 guests.
Linda is an artist and has employed her excellent artistic sense to create this extensive garden as a wedding ceremony location. They built a bungalow that can be used for the bride to dress prior to the ceremony or to prepare for her entrance to the ceremony in the garden. Linda does an excellent job of preparing brides before their big day and is especially helpful in coordinating the process leading up to the ceremony. She has an extensive list of wedding vendors she values who have proven their professionalism and expertise over the years of working there.
Richard is a professional guitarist, he can provide some of the best guitar wedding music one can find in the SF Bay area. He has performed all over the world, even studying in Spain for some time. He can draw from an extensive repertoire and can include the couples special music requests.
To learn more about this facility visit their website at www.hastingshouseweddings.com where you can hear Richard performing in the background. Call to make an appointment to view the location at 650.726.2513 or email Linda at linda@hastingshouseweddings.com.
