Here Comes The Guide – Online and Print Wedding Resources

By admin - Last updated: Friday, November 12, 2010

Here Comes The GuideWhen you see this graphic on a website for a wedding vendor or service you can be sure they are a valuable and accredited vendor/service provider because they are prescreened. Here Comes The Guide is one of the premier online and print wedding industry wedding resource directories for California, Chicago, and DC vendors and services.

But, it isn’t just a matter of paying money to be included in the directory. I had to pass through an extensive review process before being accepted. Certified by The Guide explains that “…each vendor has to submit 30-40 references, including wedding industry professionals and at least 15 recent brides…” I know for sure that they contact each person and get their honest feedback so only companies with a rave review are accepted.

Not only are Locations and Services provided with extensive photos and explanatory content, there are hundreds of articles on helpful topics relating to a wedding. They even have a Job Board for wedding and special events market in Northern and Southern California where one can post a job opening or find a job. There is also a very helpful Bookstore with books in 4 categories of interest, including their own Northern California Book.

Here Comes The Guide BookFor you wedding professionals interested in becoming a Here Comes The Guide resource, your acceptance gets you into both their Web and Printed Book. I receive more referrals from their Website than any other website source apart from my Google search engine keyword findability.

The newest Northern California Book printing is due for release January 2011. It can be found in bookstores, in Amazon, and can be ordered from their website.

Spend time on their site at Here Comes The Guide and see why I value this site.

Terry

Hasting House – Half Moon Bay Wedding Location

By admin - Last updated: Friday, September 24, 2010

The Hastings HouseOk, my summer hiatus is over.  I’m starting this Fall Blog with one of my favorite wedding ceremony locations, The Hasting House.

Owned by Linda Montalto Patterson and Richard Patterson, this beautiful garden location across from the Pacific Ocean offers a unique, secluded environment for a smaller wedding.  I’ve performed ceremonies there for just a couple and for weddings with 100 guests.

Linda is an artist and has employed her excellent artistic sense to create this extensive garden as a wedding ceremony location.  They built a bungalow that can be used for the bride to dress prior to the ceremony or to prepare for her entrance to the ceremony in the garden.  Linda does an excellent job of preparing brides before their big day and is especially helpful in coordinating the process leading up to the ceremony.  She has an extensive list of wedding vendors she values who have proven their professionalism and expertise over the years of working there.

Richard is a professional guitarist, he can provide some of the best guitar wedding music one can find in the SF Bay area.  He has performed all over the world, even studying in Spain for some time.  He can draw from an extensive repertoire and can include the couples special music requests.

To learn more about this facility visit their website at www.hastingshouseweddings.com where you can hear Richard performing in the background. Call to make an appointment to view the location at 650.726.2513 or email Linda at linda@hastingshouseweddings.com.

La Costanera Restaurant – Wedding & Reception Site

By admin - Last updated: Thursday, May 27, 2010

La Costanera Wedding LocationI’ve had the pleasure to dine twice at the Coastside’s newest restaurant, La Costanera. The restaurant is completely renovated at this bluff top location in Montara California overlooking the Pacific Ocean. This three-story, 10,000-sq.-ft. facility has a soaring glass ceiling plus tall windows to maximize ocean viewing and interaction with the environment where coastal mountains meet the sea.

Let’s start with the food, excellent! Chief Carlos Altamirano also owns SF’s Piqueo’s and Mochica; his creations are made with authentic Peruvian ingredients, many of them brought regularly from Peru to provide a unique Peruvian fusion cuisine with a dozen types of ceviche, tiraditos and crudos. The bar has a wide range of unique Peruvian drinks and specialty cocktails.

The facility has a wide range of options for wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners, and even small wedding ceremonies. In addition to the main dining area there is an adjacent smaller area, an upstairs room that is very private, a bar and lounge on the ground floor, and an outside seating area for up to 50. The restaurant is also wheelchair accessible. So whether you have just a few people or 300, this location can accommodate to your particular needs. Of course the rental fees depend on the space rented and the meals range from $50-100/person. They are open year-round, Tuesday-Sunday from 5pm to midnight.

You can’t beat the views from the restaurant above Montara State Beach location; see for yourself from a video I shot of the area.
